Why have I never considered wearing, let alone buying, a red suit until recently? Quite frankly, because I never thought I looked good in red. It didn’t matter if it was a shirt, pants, sweater, I never felt comfortable in red. This suit story re-emphasizes why we shouldn’t prejudge something solely on our past experiences or tastes.

Several months ago I was negotiating with Tom Rini to become part of his great Crav Vodka promotion team. I started by looking up his website to determine his marketing look, or style. What jumped out at me was his use of the word “Passion”, highlighted by bold red & black colors. My idea was to break my no red rule & show up at our meeting with a bold red suit, with a black silk shirt & tie; carrying a bottle of Crav.

I went to my favorite suit store and found the suit & accessories I had in my minds eye. The next step was to try it on; having already determined I wouldn’t be happy. When I looked in the mirror, I was pleasantly hocked. Maybe because my expectations were so low, or perhaps I just keep getting younger every day. ( the Horseshoe Casino has set the odds that it’s the first of the two reasons. HA!)

At the Love for Chardon Fundraiser


My favorite night so far in the suit, was at a fundraiser which I was asked to make an appearance. It was a blind bachelor auction benefiting the students & families of the Chardon High School shootings. I was way out of my comfort zone that night. As I have always stated as part of my “Pimpology 101” course study; “ life begins where your comfort zone ends” So when the evening ended as a great success, it was a tremendous relief. I met so many wonderful people who selflessly gave of their time, had fun, & made a bunch of money for a great cause. Can’t ask for more than that. ( As a side note, I was auctioned off for $1.17 cents……..Just
kidding……………$1.18 cents)

The Owen & Laura Hood Wedding

On July 7 of this year a very special couple by the name of Owen & Laura Hood exchanged their wedding vows. I had met them out & about on several occasions while they were just going out together. Even before I knew they were planning to marry, I thought they were both outstanding people who made a perfect couple. So when Owen contacted me via my website asking me to be a special guest at their reception, I was honored.

The wedding & reception were both held at one of the most beautiful venues in Cleveland. I had never been to, or heard of the Shoreby Club in Bratenhal before this event. An absolutely beautiful facility right on the lake. Upon arriving, I went around back where a huge tent housed I would guess between 2-3 hundred people. The sun was just setting on the lake, bringing a soft glow across the event. Owen did not tell anyone I was making a special appearance, so when I walked in, a roar went up from the crowd. What a rush for me knowing this is the response Owen & Laura were looking for.

Laura looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress, and Owen & his boys cleaned up good as well. I got to dance with many of their guests along with both moms…..a real treat. I met so many nice people. Each one in their own way made me feel at home, and that I added to the enjoyment of their night.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Owen & Laura for letting me a small part of this magnificent occasion. You deserve all the happiness you bring to others in your married life together.

As a side note, I really love going to weddings. ( As long as it’s not mine HA!) So if anyone has one coming up, and you would like me to appear, please contact me….Have a great day

This past Sunday was one of those days I did not want to end. The weather was perfect, and the people of our great city were sick with party fever. The difference between this “sickness” & others is simple: no one was looking for a cure.

It was the day of the Tim McGraw & Kenny Chesney concert in our own Cleveland Browns stadium, and many people decided to make this a whole day affair. Muni lot was filled with not only Chesney fans, but also fans of the party. I’m not a huge country music fan, but l certainly like some of it. Just like on St Patty’s day when I’m a little Irish, I was little bit country Sunday.

I have always said Cleveland has some of best looking girls in the world, and being at the Muni tailgating Sunday reminded me why. The most prominent “uniform” for the girls was a hat (either straw or cowboy), halter tops, Daisy Duke shorts, and cowboy boots….Wow!!! For the men, no shirts, shorts, sneaks, & an ear to ear grin caused by many adult beverages & so many beautiful women. HA!

It was kind of strange tailgating at the Muni without a Brown’s game to follow. Country music filled the air along with the anticipation of the concert. With this being said, you could still feel the upcoming Brown’s football season. The legendary “Browns Bunch” was there in force, & many fans were wearing the gear. People are already feeling like the summer is going by too quickly. The positive is…..our great Cleveland Browns football is just around the corner……Till next time

Miami Vice

We have all at one time identified ourselves with a t.v show that made us feel like one of the stars was created based on our image. That show for me in the 80s was “Miami Vice”, and in my mind I was Sonny Crockett personified. He wore the pastel-colored suits which accented his tan. The women all flocked to his rugged good looks, self confidence, and unique style.

In the eighties the hot clubs in Cleveland were O’Malley’s, Coconuts, and the Bomb Squadron (across from the airport) By coincidence, I met a black man by the name of Eddy, and we started hitting the clubs together. For those of you that remember, Crockett’s sidekick was Tubbs, a well dressed black guy. Well of course when we walked in anywhere we were known as Crockett & Tubbs. ( An association that worked out quite well for us with the ladies.) Hate when that happens….Ha!

I bought this suit about two years in the beginning of the summer. When I first laid eyes on it , many great memories of that era came rushing back. I knew it would be mine, but I had one large obstacle to overcome. If I was truly going to be Sonny Crockett in that suit…..he never wore a tie…..I always wear a tie. As silly as it seems, it was hard for me to go out of my comfort zone and not wear a tie.

The first night I wore the suit was my favorite night with that suit so far. It was a very hot, humid night, and although I was feeling the Miami vibe, as I was walking into the club I was apprehensive as to how the fans would accept the fact I was out of “uniform” so to speak. As soon as I walked in a very beautiful fan came up to me and asked to take a picture with “ Don Johnson” Wow! I couldn’t have asked for a better start to a great night.

As a side note; isn’t it funny that no matter how confident you are as a person, when we step out of our comfort zone ( new style haircut, clothes etc) we wait for that first person to come and say “ I like it “ to feel like a million bucks………till next time

My Daughter’s High School Graduation

Most of the time I share with fans milestones in attaining my dream. This time the milestone is in my personal life. I am proud to announce my daughter’s graduation from Mentor High School. Graduating from high school in itself may not seem like such a big deal, but when it’s your child it takes on a whole new dimension.

Pre-graduation preparation is a lot different depending on if you’re a boy a girl. Speaking from the male side, I remember five years ago when I graduated ( Give or take one or two yrs. HA! ) preparation was minimal. All I thought about was the different pranks I could pull off, and which girls I wanted to keep in touch with afterwards. Watching my daughter get ready, I learned what the girls do; hair, nails, under robe outfits. Under robe outfits? What in the hell is up with that. The robe is from the neck to the shoes, but for whatever reason, girls take great pains in choosing just the right apparel. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I almost wore nothing under my robe. Ha!

The ceremony was very moving. The speeches were brief but inspirational. You may hear from the media how bad the public schools are, and how much the teachers/administrators don’t care. I heard genuine emotion in the voices of the staff, which left me feeling like they’re own children were leaving. As I listened to other names being called waiting for my daughter’s, I promised myself I wouldn’t cry. Then I heard her name……another promise broken.

After the ceremony, my sister, my nephew’s wife, and I met her outside the Wolstein Center. I looked my little girl in the face, and saw a beautiful young woman starting her adult life. My mind’s eye still saw the face I used to push on the swings.

Memorial Weekend Recap

On July 9th a long time ago, about thirty men in their late teens, early twenties, boarded a bus in downtown Lorain. I was one of those young men. We were headed to the Federal Building in Cleveland to start the induction process for entering the United States Army. Ten of those great young men never saw the age of 22. On behalf of my friends who died, their families,and all the other men, women, and their families who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our country…..WE SALUTE YOU……this past Memorial Day, and all to come.

This past Memorial weekend I was at one of my favorite places…Put-N-Bay. It had been nearly three years ago since I’d been there. I was stoked to participate in the debauchery which defines the islands. This is the only place I do not wear a suit to party. Considering I wasn’t wearing a suit, I hadn’t been there in so long, and people come from all over, I had already prepared myself not to be as recognized as I am usually accustomed. Boy was I wrong!

There were fans from all over the country who were nice enough to say hello and ask for a pic. California, New York, Philadelphia, Arizona amongst others. The first words out of most everyone’s mouth was either “Where’s the suit?” or “ I can’t believe you’re here & not in Cleveland”

The place has really changed in some ways i.e. many new bars & restaurants, but still has the feeling of being on some faraway island in a world of its own. We arrived on a 35 ft cabin cruiser Thurs. afternoon & stayed until Sunday. Good friends, the famous bbq chicken, Mad Dog Adams at the Roundhouse, Beer Barrel Saloon, Frosty’s, and of course, booze, combined to make it one great weekend. Can’t wait until “Christmas in July” at the islands!…….Till next time…………….

There are a few things which really show me spring & summer have officially arrived:

  • I can leave my coat at home
  • The girls are definitely wearing less clothes
  • Shooter’s outside deck reopens.

Last Saturday I attended two major events, the Summer Kick-Off Fashion Show at Nido’s restaurant in Little Italy & the deck opening party at Shooter’s. Lets talk about the fashion show first.

I would not normally go to this type of event, but since some friends who support me asked if I would make an appearance; I did. The evening had perfect weather. As I walked the main street of Little Italy, I was greeted by many smiling people people, dining on the sidewalks. I entered Nido’s for the first time ever & was given a hero’s’ reception by the owner & his very nice wife. They said their daughter was a huge fan & were happy to finally meet me. I was also greeted by Cali Miles’ famous & beautiful Bomb Squad, who were there to model. Christina Elizabeth Prive and Heather Battaglia from Tre Sorelle, Katelyn Zagara from La Femme De Cleveland & Shannon Prada from Eryla Swimwear put on a wonderful show enjoyed by all.

Right after the show I headed directly to one of my favorite summer hangouts, Shooter’s, to enjoy the rest of the evening. No better way to start my Shooter’s nite than to run into one of my favs, Melissa Paradise, who is also the marketing & promotions director for them. She had also just arrived from the fashion show in which she modeled. Under Melissa’s direction, many new things will be happening this summer. I also had the pleasure of speaking with Roger, the notorious owner, Nikkie Nicole, a member of the Bomb Squad, a new nightlife staple, Tom Rini ( Crav Vodka ) and his beautiful wife & the good guys from Super Senior Entertainment, Brandon and Matt.

What a wonderful night! The music was thumpin’ with my “ Stand Up “ video buddies, Iphonic, weather was spring perfect & I was surrounded by Cleveland party people……Just the beginning of a magnificent Cleveland-style summer. Till next time,

Goofy Golf Suit

Ah…..springtime is in the air. It is this time of year when we remember as Clevelanders, why we suffer through long cold winters. Arguably, we have the best spring, summer, and fall seasons in the country. Our thoughts turn to the outdoor sports, such as baseball and golf among others. Today we are going to talk about my goofy golf suit.

As I’ve stated in the past, I am blessed with a great family. Every year my cousin Ronnie ( a.k.a. Big ) puts together a family golf outing, which starts with 18 holes, and ends with a family, friends cookout. Every year i wear an outrageous outfit, trying to outdo the year before. The hands down winner so far, by far, is the goofy golf suit.

I got the outfit from a fellow Progressive worker, who originally bought it as a Halloween costume about five years ago. As I was thinking about what to wear to the next outing, I remember him wearing it to our office Halloween party. I thought it would bring the laugh I was hoping to bring to everyone. However, I had a slight dilemma. That year’s outing was scheduled at one of the stuffiest, highbrow, golf clubs in northeast Ohio. What are my chances this upscale club would escort me off the links on the tip of a boot in my behind.

Even though I including a pic, I must describe the details of the suit. Starting from the ground up, I’m wearing hiking boots with green laces in one, and orange in the other. White knee high socks meet the bottom of my Scottish plaid golf style knickers. A white dress shirt is under a vest, which is made from green astroturf, with actual size plastic golf balls as buttons. I am also wearing a tie made from green astroturf with a golf ball as a tie pin. The outfit is topped off (literally) with a round, French tam style hat. The hat is made from astroturf made to look like a putting green. Protruding from the middle of it is a flag pin. Attached to the pin is a 2 inch long invisible wire with a plastic golf ball on the other end so it looks like its on the green waiting to be putted in the hole.

Sunday morning 8:00 am sharp I arrive at the course with the suit already on. I’m in pretty bad shape already because I was on West Sixth street indulging in adult beverages until 5:00am. As I approached the club’s office to pay for my round of golf, I can see two impeccably dressed older gentleman behind the counter, truly representing the class of this course. I stopped a moment, trying to muster some testicular fortitude to open the door and meet my fate. As I opened the door the two gentleman immediately looked up…to be continued soon

Cinco de Mustachio Party at Barley House

This past Saturday, May 5th, was the third of my signature Superpimp parties; this one at the Barley House Cleveland. If you’ve ever been to any one of them, you already know what makes them uniquely special.

For those of haven’t had the opportunity, I’m going to let you in on the secret ingredient…….the people.

The two things I’ve stated in the past I use to determine if the party turned out the way I wanted are:

1) Did everyone have a good time
2) How many people put everything aside to attend.

Everyone had a GREAT time. The theme was Cinco De Mayo and people definitely brought a Mexican flair to the fray. South of the border costumes, DJ XCEL mixing in some Latin music, and Patron tequila gave the event the flavor of the theme.

Now let’s talk about the turnout. I have had great attendance at all my parties, but this one was on steroids. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the line outside of Barley almost reach Tequila Ranch….insane. My apologies to those who weren’t able to make it in because of the crowd. A little tip for the future; if it’s a Superpimp party, come early, because the good party people will show, ready to go!

Would like to thank Corey May, Bobby George, Joe Oravec, Robbie Flair and all the Barley Girls & Staff for such a great event. Big Shot out to Joe Haden for being so kind to buy the Maywheater vs. Cotto fight for everyone to see it for free. (arguably best fight in a decade or so)

Last but not least, thanks to all the great people of Cleveland, who continue to show why we are the best location in the nation, and faithfully support the Superpimp “brand”.

Black & White Party at Velvet Dog

This past Friday, April 20th, was my Black & White party at the Velvet Dog. This party was held in appreciation of all my fans, whose support landed me on the cover of Cleveland Scene Magazine. Not only was I honored with a cover picture & article, but it also became the most “Liked” story in the history of Scene magazine. How cool is that!!!??? Thanks to you all.

It's all in the Family: my brother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law and my brother.


This was the second of many parties to come that have my name on them. The first was the very successful “Pimp & Pimpette” at the Barley House earlier this year.

What is the measure I use to determine whether or not a party is a success or failure? There are actually two, in this order:

1) IF EVERYONE HAD A GREAT TIME
2) How many people took the time to attend

By these measures, it was one hell of a party!

Personally, I was touched by how many people let myself, my team, & sponsors know how much they enjoyed, as well as appreciated, this great event. All of us worked very hard to make it a truly Superpimp brand party. Our reward for the time & effort put forth, was the sincere feedback from those in who attended. “ Hey, I had a great time at your party “ is music to our ears.

I would like to take a moment to personally thank all those who were so instrumental in making this happen: Ray, Matt and the gracious staff at the Velvet Dog; our sponsors: the Cleveland Scene, Little Black Dress Vodka, Bud Light Platinum, UpsideDownFoot Media and mKreative. And last but not least, Matt Keirsey, Huy Pham and John for capturing this great night on film and camera.

You people are the best!

I am so humbled by the outpouring of support from all of you about the Cleveland Scene article. Not only via Facebook, Twitter and in person, but also on the www.clevescene.com website where over 900 of you Facebook “liked” the article, making it the most “liked” feature story in history!

To show my appreciation, my team and I, have put together a legendary party for you this Friday, April 20th at Velvet Dog. The theme of the party is black and white and I’m challenging all of you to come dressed to impress in your glamorous black or white (or both) outfits. Girls, I know you all have that new sexy dress in your closet waiting for an excuse to wear. Guys, wow the ladies in attendance with a suit!

The beautiful Little Black Dress Vodka girls and Cleveland Scene girls are going to be in the house spreading the love and vodka.

Life is made up of a series of events, most of which are mundane and routine. Very few and far between are the events that stir your blood, excite your mind, or have the power to potentially change your life.

One of the these events is about to enter my world.

Today, Wednesday April 4th, Cleveland Scene magazine will be releasing on their website, the feature article they’ve been working on for the last couple of months. Tomorrow, Thursday April 5th, the actual issue will hit the stands with my picture on the cover.

I have not been allowed to read the article, or view the cover in advance, so I will be experiencing everything along with everyone else.

Although I have full confidence in the author Kyle Swenson and the staff of Scene, this is still a very personal event which I have little control over at this point. What makes this very personal is, for the first time I’ve revealed many intimate aspects of my life to my fans, and to the general public, never before discussed with anyone other than family or friends.

Why did I decide to do it? Simply because my dream has always been to entertain and hopefully inspire as many people as I can reach. Thousands of people know of me, but do not KNOW me. I decided if I was truly going to achieve the next level of my quest, people would have to begin to know, “The man behind the suit.“ Fasten your seatbelts, here we go……..

St. Patrick’s Day in Cleveland 2012 Recap

Legend has it, St. Patrick banished all the snakes out of Ireland. Historians say it isn’t fact, but rather years of exaggerated story telling. I, Superpimp, who some say has been around for a lot of history (Ha!) say it is true. He rounded all of them up and sent them to Pittsburgh.

All I know is, St Patrick must have made himself a honorary Clevelander after witnessing the party our wonderful people and city threw for him. I think he was a little surprised to see how many people of different races, colors, and creeds claimed Irish heritage last Saturday.

I got downtown about 10:00am on Saturday after not getting home Friday night until 4:00am. ( Pimpin’ ain’t easy.) My good friend from Lorain, Jim Maschari, met with me at the Barley House along with his friend Ray and his wife. After inhaling a couple of quick drinks, we migrated to Bar Louie’s for a bite and a “ Snake Bite”; or four. On to the Drop Bar outside patio for some shots, and some pics with fans, including WWE’s Derrick Bateman.

I walked past the “new” club, Martini 6 (formerly Sin) and ran into my bud Don Devries, the man of Martini 6. It was their grand opening with one of my fav bands “Iphonic“ who put a great show; but I was kind of surprised they had a couple drinks before they went on, HA! (Look for the soon to be released Iphonic music video, featuring your very own Superpimp)

What a blessed day, weather-wise. I ended my night on the roof of the Velvet Dog.

Thanx to all the fans who took pics and stopped to talk and party. You made my day! A special shoutout to the people of Cleveland; 500,000 strong only 21 arrests. A great example to other cities; let’s keep it up!

“Magic Coat”

Where and When Did I Get This Suit?

This suit is one of the few I couldn’t make up my mind about. Most of the time I see a suit and I know it’s me without even trying it on. Even with the suits that catch my eye, but I don’t take to immediately, I decide one way or the other before I leave the store. With this one, it took me three more times to see it over an eight month period to make a final decision. I finally bought it about a year and a half ago.

What does this suit mean to me?

This suit has a special meaning to me in a very different way than many of my others. It is the most interactive suit I own. Both men and women ask to try on my suit coats. They usually show their friends and take pictures. This coat, more than any other, is requested to be tried on. I am not exactly sure why; it’s just the way it is. Watching people completely change their mood and personality by just wearing a garment is so inspiring to me. My true joy comes from watching usually introverted persons become on the outside what they only allowed themselves to be on the inside.

My Favorite Night In This Suit:

Unlike my other suits, I don’t have just one special night having to do with me, but rather many ongoing nights of bringing happiness to others. I am very blessed to have the ability to create a good time out of anything I choose to do. Unfortunately most people do not for one reason or another. I just love the power I have to bring a smile to people’ faces, and exercise this power every opportunity I get. A very important tool I have to accomplish my quest is what I call the “Magic Suit.” For just that few minutes it’s worn, people of all ages “magically” forget the clouds in their life, and feel the sun on their face.

Swimsuit Contest at the Islander Grill

This past Sunday I went to an event where I had the most fun since my own Pimp & Pimpette party!

The event was organized by the beautiful & talented Shannon Prada to showcase her new swimsuit line and to celebrate Donnie’s 19th birthday. Ha! The party was at at the Islander Grille in Parma and was hosted by the equally beautiful & high energy Kileigh Hohenfeld.

I was a celebrity judge along with Joe Quebodeaux from iPhonic and Aaron LaFette.Dj Xcell provided his expertise in creating the musical atmosphere.

The two highlights of the event ( besides the models ) were the fire show put on by Cleveland’ best bartender Robbie Flair and the impromptu performance by Iphonic singer JQ. Check out the video.

Congratulations to the two winners, Tara and Victoria, who will go on to the finals.

A very special Congratulations to Shannon, Kileigh, and Donnie on a very successful as well as entertaining event.
